The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has only exacerbated risks for everyone by making us more vulnerable to scammers and schemes. In 2020, the Federal Trade Commission estimated that unfortunately Seniors age 60 and older lost $100 million to COVID-19. Also, Seniors ages 60 and older lost at least $602 million to fraud, scams, and financial exploitation schemes. Therefore, everyone needs to know more about how to avoid scams and frauds.

Our guest speaker will be John Brown, from the NC Attorney General's office. He is an Outreach & Policy Coordinator for the North Carolina Department of Justice-Public Protection Section. His primary responsibility is to build and strengthen community relationships through outreach and education on a number of policy initiatives that affect North Carolinians each day.
