The purpose of the 14 statewide congressional district reorganization conventions is to elect leadership to each congressional district. We want to make sure that the leadership of districts live in their 2024 lines and represent their community.  While all of Johnston Co is still in the 13th Congressional District and some of us hold district positions, we did lose most of our leadership to redistricting. When we go through a congressional map change (as the NCGA so often puts us through due to gerrymandered maps), each district per our Plan of Organization must formally reconstitute its executive committee. We will be electing 8 leaders (or re-electing…the leaders listed below are the only current leaders still residing in the 13th District) including:

  • Chair

  • First Vice Chair (Justin King, Johnston Co, elected 2023)

  • Second Vice Chair (Kevin Thurman, Harnett Co, elected 2023)

  • Third Vice Chair

  • Secretary

  • Plan of Organization Review Committee

  • Council of Review Committee  (Sarah Anderson, Johnston Co, elected 2024)

  • Platform and Resolution Review Committee
